Collection: Canal Zone Documentary (CZD) Collection

From 1903 to 1999, the United States operated a sovereign territory within Panama known as the Canal Zone — a five-mile strip on either side of the Panama Canal that was home to a unique American community unlike any other. The people who grew up there called themselves Zonians. When the Zone was handed back to Panama, their world quietly disappeared. This is their story.

The Canal Zone is gone. The people who lived it are not.

For those who grew up in that singular place — where jungle met the waterway, where cultures collided and became something entirely their own — the Canal Zone wasn't just a location. It was a world. And when it ended, it didn't disappear. It lives in the people who carry it.

The CZD Collection exists to honor that. Every piece supports the Canal Zone Documentary project — an ongoing effort to preserve Zonian stories, build a shared archive of memories, and work toward a film that gives this history the treatment it deserves.

When you buy from this collection, you're not just wearing something. You're part of keeping the record alive. Funds go directly toward content creation, community building, and the documentary work itself.

The Zone may be gone. But it will not be forgotten.

CZD is an independent project collaborating with Canal Zone® as part of the Zona Vibra initiative.
